"When I grow up, I'm gonna become President and try to outrun language!!!"
This is what my sister Emma said to me today as I tried to help her with her diagramming.
"But no one NEEDS to learn language in SCHOOL!" she insisted
"If we didn't have language in school we wouldn't be able to talk" I said.
" NO, we would still be able to talk."
"Not correctly"
" We don't need to talk correctly. People could say ain't and hisself all they want to," she persuaded "Hisself went to the library. See?"
Now even though this didn't really make sense, I'm sure somewhere in her 10 year old mind it made perfect sense to her. I have to say though, there have been those days when I have thought the exact same things. "No one needs to know how to do this second degree algebraic equation! Who is ever going to use this??" When I grow up I'm not gonna make my kids do algebra ( even though in the back of my mind I know I will)
and honestly in my 15 year old brain it makes perfect sense...and when I'm 30 it will most likely still make sense, but whether or not it makes sense, someone, somewhere, at some point in time, who apparently had more control over my life and schooling than me, made it a rule that I had to sit in the classroom and learn about algebraic equations..who would do that to me?
Honestly though, ( I like being honest with you guys) school doesn't bother me that much. Now, last year it was AWFUL I absolutely hated every minute of school, but this year it hasn't really annoyed me too incredibly much. There was that one week where I was going to throw my biology out the window last semester, same goes for algebra, but it hasn't been too bad. I'm one of those weird people who actually like Grammar, and History, and Literature.
All the easy reading stuff. Today I actually got to write a speech on photography because it is probably my most loved pass time. It was surprisingly really fun. Biology on the other hand....not so fun...I don't really care to learn the difference between fungi and mold...as interesting as it is to read about, the quiz that I didn't exactly Ace wasn't very interesting..it was TERRIBLE..
and I'm sorry if you are one of those people who actually like biology, I'm sure you will make a great scientist or biologist one day, but I will not, and I'm perfectly fine with that. I probably sound like one of those teenagers that are just trying to slip by with their grades, but I'm not, I really do try. I just absolutely hate it..
Algebra, besides the occasional equation that decides it just isn't going to cooperate isn't as terrible as I make it out to be. It's not my favorite subject in the world, but I get by, and when I finally get the right answer I'm pretty proud of myself and I get a warm fuzzy feeling ;)
And that is pretty much my exciting school life. Well, all the semi interesting parts anyway. I'm sure you wanted to know all about it right? I thought so.
And in other news.... well I guess there isn't really any other news..
Yep My day pretty much consisted of, school, some chores, and a tv show or two..Such an interesting life I lead.
